A small, mostly solid-fueled European launch vehicle developed to give Europe an efficient way to orbit lighter scientific and Earth-observation satellites that would be inefficient to fly on the larger Ariane. It complements Ariane in the same way Russia's Soyuz once did for Arianespace before European launches shifted away from Russian vehicles in 2022.
