MAVEN is a NASA spacecraft that orbits Mars and studies the loss of its atmospheric gases to space. The mission examines the planet's upper atmosphere and ionosphere to understand how the solar wind strips away volatile compounds, providing insight into Mars's climate and water history. It was built and tested by Lockheed Martin Space Systems.
