An interferometric radio telescope, known as CHIME, at the Dominion Radio Astrophysical Observatory in British Columbia, Canada, built beginning in 2015 with science operations commencing in late September 2018. It receives radio waves from hydrogen in space at 400 to 800 MHz using four stationary cylindrical reflectors, and has become a leading instrument for detecting fast radio bursts, including the first known repeating fast radio burst with a regular periodicity.
