The Soviet Union's second human spaceflight program, following Vostok, which used a modified Vostok capsule to fly multiple cosmonauts without spacesuits. Voskhod 1 in October 1964 carried the first three-person crew into orbit, and Voskhod 2 in March 1965 featured the first spacewalk, performed by Alexei Leonov, both firsts achieved ahead of the American Gemini program.
