A European Space Agency astrobiology program searching for evidence of past or present life on Mars, in two phases: the Trace Gas Orbiter and Schiaparelli lander launched together in 2016, and the Rosalind Franklin rover planned for launch in 2028. Originally developed in partnership with Roscosmos, that collaboration was suspended in 2022 following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, and ESA has since restructured the rover mission with other partners including NASA.
