Chang'e 5 was the fifth lunar exploration mission in the Chinese Lunar Exploration Program of the China National Space Administration, and China's first lunar sample return mission. Launched on November 23, 2020, the spacecraft landed on the Moon on December 1, collected about 1,731 grams of lunar samples, and returned them to Earth on December 16, 2020.
