An American launch vehicle family built on the Titan II airframe with strap-on solid rocket boosters, developed primarily for U.S. Air Force military and reconnaissance payloads. Its Titan IIIE variant, with a Centaur upper stage, launched the Viking Mars landers and the Voyager probes in the 1970s.
