An American two-stage launch vehicle that bridged the single-stage Saturn I and the giant Saturn V, used to test Apollo command and service module hardware in Earth orbit, including the first crewed Apollo flight, Apollo 7, in October 1968. It later launched crews to Skylab and the joint Apollo-Soyuz Test Project.
