India's most powerful operational launch vehicle, despite its name an essentially new design rather than an upgrade of the earlier GSLV, since renamed LVM3. It launched the Chandrayaan-2 and Chandrayaan-3 lunar missions, the latter making India the fourth nation to achieve a soft Moon landing and the first to land near the lunar south pole.
