Messier 12, also known as M12 or NGC 6218, is a globular cluster in the constellation Ophiuchus, discovered by Charles Messier on 30 May 1764, who again described it as a nebula without stars. It can be faintly seen with binoculars under dark skies, while resolving its individual stars requires a telescope of at least 8 inches of aperture.
