Messier 107, also known as M107 or NGC 6171, is a globular cluster of stars in the constellation Ophiuchus, discovered by Pierre Mechain in 1782 but not formally added to Charles Messier's catalogue until 1947, when the Canadian astronomer Helen Sawyer Hogg included it among the objects known to have been observed by Mechain and Messier. It lies roughly 20,000 to 21,000 light-years from Earth and is one of the more loosely concentrated globular clusters known.
