Caldwell 3, also known as NGC 4236, is a barred spiral galaxy in the constellation Draco, discovered by William Herschel in 1793. It is a member of the M81 Group of galaxies and lies roughly 7 to 11 million light-years from Earth, presenting a large, diffuse, low-surface-brightness disk that makes it a challenging visual target despite its size.
