Caldwell 22, also known as the Blue Snowball Nebula or NGC 7662, is a planetary nebula in the constellation Andromeda, discovered by William Herschel in 1784. It lies roughly 5,000 to 6,000 light-years from Earth and appears as a small, round, distinctly blue-green disk in a telescope, the source of its popular nickname.
