Caldwell 18, also known as NGC 185, is a dwarf elliptical galaxy in the constellation Cassiopeia, discovered by William Herschel in 1787. It is a satellite galaxy of the Andromeda Galaxy, lies roughly 2.1 million light-years from Earth, and is unusual among dwarf spheroidal-type galaxies for showing signs of star formation within the past few hundred million years.
