Caldwell 13, also known as the Owl Cluster, the E.T. Cluster or NGC 457, is an open cluster of stars in the constellation Cassiopeia, discovered by William Herschel in 1787. It lies roughly 7,900 to 9,100 light-years from Earth, and two of its brighter member stars form a pair of bright points that observers have likened to a pair of glowing eyes within the cluster's owl-like outline.
