The Bubble Nebula, also known as NGC 7635, Sharpless 162, or Caldwell 11, is an H II region emission nebula in the constellation Cassiopeia, lying close to the open cluster Messier 52. Its bubble shape is carved out by the stellar wind from a massive, hot central star, and it sits beside a giant molecular cloud that confines the expanding bubble while itself being excited to glow by the heat of that same star. It was discovered by William Herschel in November 1787.
