951 Gaspra is an S-type asteroid orbiting very close to the inner edge of the main asteroid belt, discovered in 1916 by the Russian astronomer Grigory Neujmin, who named it after Gaspra, a Black Sea retreat visited by contemporaries of his such as the writers Maxim Gorky and Leo Tolstoy.
