Valentin Lebedev was a Soviet cosmonaut and engineer who flew two missions to Soviet space stations, including a 1982 stay aboard Salyut 7 lasting almost 211 days, a duration record at the time. Lebedev kept a detailed personal diary throughout the mission, later published as a book that became one of the more widely read firsthand accounts of daily life and the psychological experience of a long-duration Soviet space mission.
