Takuya Onishi is a Japanese astronaut, engineer and former All Nippon Airways pilot who was selected by JAXA in February 2009 as an International Space Station astronaut candidate and simultaneously joined NASA Astronaut Group 20. He flew two missions, Soyuz MS-01 in 2016, spending 115 days in space across Expeditions 48 and 49, and SpaceX Crew-10, which arrived at the station in March 2025 for Expeditions 72 and 73, during which he commanded Expedition 73 from April to August 2025. He has completed underwater and cave training programs including NEEMO 15 and the European Space Agency's CAVES and PANGAEA courses, and the asteroid 163153 Takuyaonishi was named in his honor.
