Rosemary Coogan is a Northern Irish astrophysicist and United Kingdom astronaut who specializes in galaxy evolution and space based telescopes. She earned her doctorate from the University of Sussex studying how environmental factors influence galaxy evolution and active galactic nuclei, then worked at the Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics before being selected by the European Space Agency in 2022 to join the European Astronaut Corps, graduating from basic training in April 2024. As an astronaut candidate she contributes to projects involving the Euclid spacecraft and the James Webb Space Telescope and has not yet undertaken a spaceflight mission.
