Raphael Liegeois is a Belgian-Luxembourgish biomedical engineer and astronaut who completed his doctorate in neuroscience at the University of Liege studying brain imaging and modeling, with postdoctoral positions at the National University of Singapore and the Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne and a visiting scholarship at Stanford University. Since 2021 he has held a teaching and research position at the University of Geneva and EPFL. He was selected as part of the European Space Agency's 2022 astronaut group, completed basic training in April 2024, and was announced the following month as the second member of his class assigned to a space station mission, targeted for launch in autumn 2026.
