Paul Weitz was an American NASA astronaut and United States Navy officer who served as pilot on the first crewed mission to the Skylab space station in 1973, a flight that had to perform urgent in-orbit repairs after Skylab was damaged during its own uncrewed launch. He later commanded the maiden flight of the Space Shuttle Challenger in 1983, becoming one of the relatively few astronauts to fly in both the Skylab and Shuttle programs.
