Marc Garneau is a Canadian former naval officer and Canadian Space Agency astronaut who became the first Canadian citizen to fly in space, aboard a Space Shuttle Challenger mission in October 1984. He flew a total of three Shuttle missions across his career before leaving the astronaut corps, later serving as president of the Canadian Space Agency and subsequently entering Canadian federal politics, where he held several cabinet positions including minister of foreign affairs.
