Leopold Eyharts is a French astronaut and Brigadier General in the French Air Force who earned his engineering degree from the French Air Force Academy in 1979 and trained as a test pilot. Selected as part of the 1998 European Space Agency astronaut group, he flew two spaceflights, a Soyuz TM-27 mission to the Mir space station, and a February 2008 Space Shuttle mission, STS-122, during which he joined Expedition 16 on the International Space Station and helped install the Columbus European laboratory module, returning aboard STS-123 in March 2008. Across his spaceflight career he logged nearly 69 days in space.
