American astronaut, naval aviator and electrical and aeronautical engineer. He flew three space missions, including Gemini 9A and Apollo 10, and commanded Apollo 17 in December 1972, the final crewed Moon landing of the Apollo program. He remained, as of the source's writing, the last person to have walked on the Moon.
