David Scott was an American NASA astronaut and United States Air Force officer who flew on Gemini 8, Apollo 9 and commanded Apollo 15 in 1971. On Apollo 15 he became the seventh person to walk on the Moon and the first to drive a Lunar Roving Vehicle on the lunar surface, greatly extending the range astronauts could explore. Scott also famously demonstrated Galileos hammer-and-feather experiment on live television from the Moon, dropping both objects to show they fell at the same rate in a vacuum.
