Charlie Duke is an American former NASA astronaut and United States Air Force officer who served as lunar module pilot on Apollo 16 in 1972, becoming the tenth and, at 36 years old, youngest person to walk on the Moon. Before his own flight, Duke served as capsule communicator for Apollo 11, and his voice is heard on the historic recording relaying mission controls congratulations after the first lunar landing. He left an item on the Moon that has become well known, a photograph of his family.
