Andre Kuipers is a Dutch physician and European Space Agency astronaut who became the second Dutch citizen to launch to space when Soyuz TMA-4 lifted off on April 19, 2004. He made two spaceflights: the eleven day DELTA mission in 2004, during which he conducted 21 experiments in physiology, biology, microbiology and Earth observation, and a six month assignment launched December 21, 2011, aboard Soyuz TMA-03M for Expeditions 30 and 31 of the International Space Station, returning July 1, 2012. Across both missions he logged just over 203 days in orbit.
