Akihiko Hoshide is a Japanese engineer and JAXA astronaut who has flown three spaceflights, including a Space Shuttle mission and two long-duration stays aboard the International Space Station. On his final mission in 2021, he became the second Japanese citizen to command the space station, leading part of Expedition 66. Hoshide has performed multiple spacewalks during his career in support of station assembly and maintenance work.
