Orbital Sciences Corporation, commonly called Orbital, was an American company headquartered in Dulles, Virginia, that designed, manufactured and launched small and medium-class satellites and launch vehicles for commercial, military and government customers, and was publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker ORB. Its products included low Earth orbit and geosynchronous satellites, ground- and air-launched rockets, missile defense interceptor and target vehicles, and human-rated space systems. In 2014 Orbital merged with Alliant Techsystems to form Orbital ATK, a merger completed in February 2015 that ended Orbital Sciences as an independent company, and Orbital ATK was in turn acquired by Northrop Grumman in 2018 for 7.8 billion dollars plus assumed debt.
