HyImpulse is a private German aerospace company headquartered in Neuenstadt am Kocher that is developing small launch vehicles built around hybrid-propellant rocket engines. The company emerged as a spinoff from the German Aerospace Center chemical propulsion division at Lampoldshausen, founded in 2018 and financed by Rudolf Schwarz, chairman of the technology company IABG. HyImpulse hybrid engines burn paraffin-based fuel with liquid oxygen; its qualified HyPLOX-75 engine powers the suborbital SR75 rocket, which completed a successful maiden flight from the Koonibba Test Range in Australia on May 3, 2024, reaching an altitude of about 50 kilometers. The company is also developing the three-stage orbital SL1 launcher, designed to carry satellites of up to 500 kilograms to low Earth orbit.
